Abstract
Metastatic tumors in the oral cavity are rare, representing only 1% of oral malignancies. These metastatic tumors occur more frequently in the jaws, compared to those located in soft tissues.
In this article, a case of a 75-year-old patient with a history of clear cell renal carcinoma, is described, that consulted because of a sudden appearance of a tumor lesion in the upper left alveolar ridge. Biopsy was performed with a presumptive diagnosis of metastatic tumor or possible reactive lesion.
Oral metastatic tumors usually present a bad prognosis with a low survival rate. It is important to perform a thorough study of the patient, keeping present their past medical record, as they are sometimes lately diagnosed.
