Abstract

Objective: Analyse the association between chronic pain intensity and functional limitation scale in adults with a diagnosis of Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) attending at the Chronic Pain Clinic, UCU University Health Clinic.

Methods: An analytical observational study was carried out by means of a survey applied to patients between 18 and 45 years of age (36.27 ± 8.26) with a diagnosis of TMD, analysing the variables of chronic pain intensity and the functional limitation scale to determine their possible association. Shapiro Wilk test and Mann Whitney test were performed. Statistical significance was established at p≤ 0.05.

Results: A significant association was found between chronic pain and functional limitation of movement (p=0.00001) based on statistics

Conclusions: The association between chronic pain and functional limitation in patients with TMD in the studied population is confirmed.
