Abstract
Objective: Compare the structural changes ocurred on the surface of four bioceramic and one resin-based endodontic sealer after immersion in artifical saliva during different time periods.
Methods: For this study 25 (n=25) samples were prepared in the form of disks 4 mm in diameter and 1,5 mm thick with the following endodontic sealers: Group 1 (n=5): Tedequim Bioceramic Sealer; Group 2 (n=5): MM Bioceramic sealer; Group 3 (n=5): BioRoot RCS; Group 4 (n=5): Bio C Sealer; Group 5 (n=5): AH-Plus. Then, they were introduced into individual flasks each containing 3 ml of artificial saliva and were conserved in an oven at 37°C. The structural changes occurred on the sample surfaces were analyzed and potographed with high definition light microscopy after 24 hours, 7 and 30 days. The results were statistically analyzed using the Kruskall-Wallis and the Friedman non parametric tests. The significance level was established at P<0,05.
Results: There were no significant diferences among groups within each of the observation periods. There were also no significant diferences between the observation periods.
Conclusions: The structural changes ocurred on the sample surfaces after they were subjected to the action of artificial saliva were similar for all groups with no significant diferences with respect to group and time factors.
